The larviciding spray system for the helicopters includes two tanks per helicopter, one on each side. The tanks are often referred to as ‘hoppers’. When purchased from the distributor there are additional costs associated with painting those hoppers. The provided quote for painting the hoppers to match the new helicopters was just over $48,000 per set. With the help of district staff we were able to save approximately $92,000 by painting them in house.
