Teachers and students will be involved in a two-day interactive program. Discussion will include a variety of insects to highlight different characteristics and adaptations that allow for classification and survival. We will then focus on mosquito anatomy and life cycle, diseases and viruses mosquitoes can spread, as well as current and historical control efforts. On the second day students will complete a microscope lab identifying different mosquito body parts and observe a variety of insects. The program has been aligned with the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS).
